Celebrating Motherhood: Reflecting on Postpartum Journey and New Adventures

Hello, friend, and welcome to my new blog! I’m so glad you are here.

We are going to have lots of time to get to know one another, but here is a little about me and my family to get a headstart! My name is Abby and I was born and raised in the midwest, where I met my now husband. We have a relatively rowdy, but super cute 18 month old boy named Levi.

I am currently a stay-at-home mom, and feel very fortunate to be able to do so. I have a background in marketing and communication, and was working in the world of nonprofit before I had Levi at the end of 2022.

It took a while to get the hang of things after he was born. He really has never been a good sleeper, and that added a little extra spice to the learning curve we were already experiencing. But we were finally getting comfortable in our new routines and figuring things out. We were really enjoying the new home we had built just the year before. Life was good.

Funnily enough, with everything quieting down, we were able to remember a seed that we had planted a while ago; my husband was interested in a major career change. So long story short, we just sold EVERYTHING and moved 214 miles away to a new state, into an apartment in a big city.

Hubs is currently in school full time so he can be trained and ready for his new career. We have been here for about 2 months and are just taking it day by day, but at first we definitely felt a little bit crazy like we were jumping off of a cliff.

Navigating postpartum has shown me my fair share of ups and downs; from the messy and despairful moments, to the blissful and the deliriously joyous, I have cherished motherhood thus far. But I would be remiss to not also mention the hard lessons I have learned so far (and I am not so naive to think there is not a lifetime of parenting wisdom that I have yet to acquire).

I am establishing this blog to create a space where we can both commiserate and celebrate motherhood together. I share my perspective on this journey in the hopes that it could encourage someone when they find themself in the trenches.

I want to talk about anxiety, birthday party themes, finding yourself after becoming a mom, summer barbeques, cute baby outfits, breastfeeding struggles, iced coffee, funny things toddlers say, relationships, tantrums, fun family outings, how to get by on no sleep, the importance of mom friendships, home organization, and whatever YOU want to talk about!

Cheers to you! I can’t wait to see where this new friendship takes us.
